For the 2026 Tornado World Championships, we are still offering the chance on the ENV website to take part in a three-day training camp from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 July juste before the Championship with renowned coaches who know the Tornado class like no one else, I speak about Philippe Neiras and his Son Jolann Neiras.
Programme for registered participants:
• Friday: boat set-up and fine-tuning
• Saturday and Sunday: on-water training sessions and a debriefing each day for each crew.
To be more precise:
Philippe Neiras has extensive practical experience with the Tornado; he was the coach of the French Tornado team during the preparations for the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000) and Beijing (2008).
He is also an official Tornado measurer and has written numerous reference documents on Tornado technique and performance.
He was also European F18 champion in 1997. Whithout forget that before from 1988 to 1992 he was a member of the French Tornado team.
Then he was the Coach at Orma Banque Pop from 2000 to 2004 + Orma Grand Prix preparation class.
He was also Winner of the Tour de France à la Voile in 1986, 1987 and 1988
His son Jolann was French F18 champion in 2016, as well as finishing 3rd in the F18 World Championship in 2017 and serving as a Flying Phantom sailor for Groupama Team France’s 2017 Youth America’s Cup campaign.
From 2018 to the present, he has been a Nacra 15 coach for the British and French teams, and also a Nacra 17 coach for young French sailors.
