What a comeback by Jan Coppens and Emma Coppens at the 47th Round Texel Race!
The Tornado crew got off to a fantastic start and were running inside the top 20 when disaster struck just five minutes after the start. A broken spinnaker halyard block forced them back to the beach for repairs, dropping them to 216th place — dead last.
Rather than giving up, Jan and Emma began an incredible fight back through the fleet. In challenging conditions that included strong winds, light-air patches, heavy showers, sunshine, powerful tidal currents, and shallow-water sections, they steadily worked their way forward.
By the finish, they had recovered approximately 180 places to cross the line in an impressive 35th position overall (real-time results).
A remarkable demonstration of determination, teamwork, and true Tornado spirit. Congratulations on an outstanding performance!
