Tornado European Championship 2025 – Day 1, Attersee
The Tornado fleet had a successful start to the European Championship on Lake Attersee today. In sunny late summer weather and pleasant temperatures, the start was on time at 11 am.
The wind conditions demanded maximum concentration from the teams: three wind systems with main directions from the south and southwest made for exciting and tactical racing. Wind shifts of up to 50 degrees made quick decisions necessary. The basic wind was around 6 knots, in gusts it freshened up to 13 to 15 knots. Despite the challenges, the conditions were fair and offered perfect sailing weather.
After two races, Michaela Pavlisova and Marek Pavlis from the Czech Republic lead the overall standings with 1st and 2nd place. Zdenek Pavlis and Klara Pavlisova also put in a strong performance, taking second place. Mirco Mazzini and Andrea Ciavatta from Italy secured third place in the intermediate classification, ensuring an exciting end to the first day with a victory in the second race.
Only light winds of 2 to 3 knots are forecast for tomorrow. It remains to be seen whether further races can continue as planned or whether it will be necessary to wait for wind. So the excitement remains not only on the water, but also on the shore.
