Same venue: the famous Bay of Quiberon (Tornado World Championship in 1981 and 2015), but this time in search of light winds from the north and north-west. The race committee, chaired by Hélène La Salmonie, set the 3rd and 4th races for 9:30 am. A breathtaking backdrop. The participants set off at 8:30. It felt like a sunrise on the sea.
Ten knots at the start, which were to drop to zero by the end of the race with two windward-leeward shifts and transitions with a 20-degree change of direction. And so the two Czech crews Zdenek Pavlis – Klara Pavlisova and Michaela Pavlisova – Marek Pavlis came out on top in a nerve-wracking regatta. A family battle. Long live training on the inland waters of the Czech Republic! Third place went to the Frenchmen Yoann Trecul and Damien Ferrand.
The second race, which started in the afternoon after a long break ashore, took place in slightly less complicated conditions, but still with light winds and big transitions.
With Michaela Pavlisova – Marek Pavlis, another Czech crew is in the lead, followed by the Australians Allan Gamble and his great crew colleague Imke Jansen as well as the French Yoann Trecul and Thomas Ferrand, who are at the top of the overall standings after four races.
All in all, it was a very challenging and exciting day of racing.
