Today’s training race took place at 14:00 in bright sunshine, with a wind from the northwest between 15 and 21 knots, shifting to the west, but with flat seas. The flat seas are common for the sailing area here in Quiberon while the surfers on the other side of the island surf in high waves. Speed was guaranteed!
It was the first start, which allowed all the crews to check their equipment and test their fitness. The race was a short one with Yoan and Thomas (FRA 2) finishing after 36 minutes, closely followed by Markus and Nikolas Betz from Germany and then Laurent Morriset.
The championship was duly opened at 18:30 with finger food and cocktails on Quiberon beach.
The competition will officially start tomorrow but the conditions will be lighter with a forecast northerly wind of 12 to 17 knots. The first race is scheduled to start at 1pm.
In any case, fun and enjoyment are guaranteed.
