Raiffeisen €uro-Cup & Austrian National

The Raiffeisen €uro-Cup and Austrian National Championship got underway at Rohrspitz on Lake Constance with a competitive fleet of 13 boats representing four nations (AUT, CZE, GER, SUI).

Day one featured light conditions of 6–8 knots, allowing two races to be completed. The women crew of Nicole Lackner and Cornelia Salzmann made an impressive start to the event, winning both races and establishing an early overall lead. Switzerland’s Jean-Marc Cuanillon and Michael Gloor finished the opening day in second place, while Austria’s Jens Blum and Rupert Fritz held third.

On day two, slightly stronger winds of 8–10 knots enabled the fleet to complete four additional races. Lackner and Salzmann continued their consistent form to retain the overall lead after six races. The Czech team of Zdenek Pavlis and Klara Pavlisova climbed into second place overall with a strong series of results, while Cuanillon and Gloor remained firmly in contention in third.

Close racing throughout the fleet and changing conditions on Lake Constance have produced an exciting championship so far. With six races completed and the standings still far from settled, the stage is set for a decisive final day at Rohrspitz.

The final day delivered perfect Tornado conditions with 8–11 knots of wind and two final races to complete the championship. After eight races in total, Nicole Lackner and Cornelia Salzmann secured the overall victory with an outstanding and consistent performance throughout the weekend. The Czech team of Zdenek Pavlis and Klara Pavlisova finished in second place overall, followed by Jean-Marc Cuanillon and Michael Gloor from Switzerland in third. In the Austrian Championship ranking, Nicole Lackner and Cornelia Salzmann also claimed the national title 🏆 ahead of Dietmar and Silvia Salzmann in second place, while Jens Blum and Rupert Fritz completed the Austrian podium in third.

The championship also provided a strong example of gender equality in the Tornado class. Female sailors were not only competing on equal terms throughout the fleet but ultimately secured both the overall Raiffeisen €uro-Cup victory and the Austrian National Championship title, underlining the inclusive and competitive spirit of the class.

says Maria Tsaousidou, Manager of the class

Three days of great racing, close battles across the fleet and an amazing atmosphere at Lake Constance made this year’s Raiffeisen €uro-Cup another fantastic event for the Tornado class.
