The Tornado pre Worlds training camp is on with nine boats taking part, and all participants to be thoroughly enjoying the experience.
On Friday morning, Philippe Neiras led a technical session based on the French Tuning Guide, explaining the various tuning options, their limitations, and how to optimise a Tornado for maximum performance.
Later in the afternoon, the fleet spent two and a half hours on the water conducting speed-testing exercises before completing three shortened two-lap races. Coach Jolann Neiras closely observed the sessions, providing valuable feedback on boat settings, crew positioning, layline choices, and the technical details that can make the difference in performance.
This morning, with high temperatures and an easterly breeze, the group was on the water by 10:00 for another two and a half hours of drills, following the same format as the previous day.
The afternoon debrief focused on the objectives and methodology of the speed tests, the coach’s observations, the relationship between boats on the starting line, and practical technical advice on understanding starting-line position and achieving the best possible line-up.
Philippe Neiras then made himself available to crews seeking individual advice on their boat set-ups, with many taking advantage of the opportunity to benefit from his expertise.
The programme continues tomorrow with another morning on the water, followed by individual debrief sessions for each crew early in the afternoon. On Monday, Coach Jolann Neiras will continue working with all nine crews on the water before concluding the course with a final evening debrief.
