Tornado Walensee Swiss Championship 2024

Despite the pouring rain and temperatures around 9°C on Saturday, eight teams from Switzerland, Austria, and the Czech Republic braved the conditions and took part in the regatta. With a west wind blowing at 14-18 knots, four short races of 30 minutes each were sailed.

Unfortunately, team GER 23 withdrew on Saturday morning due to illness.

Sunday brought sunshine and east winds, with three races in 16-20 knot winds. The final race saw diminishing wind, closing the season on a calmer note, and allowing everyone to pack up in dry conditions.

Team Rusterholzer and Team Marth each competed with two boats. Martin Rusterholzer returned after a four-year regatta break, sailing with his 14-year-old daughter Mia. His incredible speed clearly showed his prowess, but a capsize influenced the overall result, leading to a tie in points with Team ARG/SUI 232 (S. Branz/M. Gloor).

The hosting club, SCoW, organized the regatta flawlessly, keeping everything simple. It was a fantastic event, and we look forward to returning!
