The 2026 Eurocat brought together top multihull sailors in Carnac, France, for three days of exciting racing in the Bay of Quiberon. Organized by the Yacht Club of Carnac, which hosted our 2015 World Championship. The event featured highly competitive fleets, including Formula 18, Goodall Viper, Nacra 15, Hurricane 5.9 SX, Formula 16 and, of course, the Tornado catamarans.
Conditions throughout the event were varied, with sailors facing shifting winds and tactical racing across seven races. The overall victory in the C1 fleet went to Thomas Ferrand, our multi-tornado world and European champion, helmed by Michel Kermarec aboard their Goodall Viper. The regatta highlighted the diversity and strength of modern catamaran sailing, from youth development classes to high-performance international teams.
The Tornado class was proudly represented at EUROCAT 2026 by six crews. CLABON Armand and ARROUAYS Sixtine, the mixed crew representing FRA421, finished 12th overall in the C1 standings with 76 net points, maintaining the Tornado class presence at one of Europe’s most prestigious multihull regattas.
The Tornado class was proudly represented at EUROCAT 2026 by several crews:
MORISSET Laurent and MALPHETTES Olivier – 18th
DE MENOU Jean and MERLIN Alice – 19th
GILSON Jean Luc and VAN WASSENHOVE Emmanuel – 35th after missing 2 races due to boat damage
VRIGNAULT, Tiphaine and RIBAULT Jerome – 44th, also affected by damage and having missed four out of the seven races
