Beam Construction – Ballot Results

From the 22nd June through to the 23rd July the members of the International Tornado Class Association (ITA) were invited to vote on a new proposal to adjust the class rules around the construction of Tornado beams.

This was also discussed at the 2014 World Championships in Perth and all sailors were in favour at that point, the next step was to take it to a ballot. You can find out more background from our previous post.

The ITA Here are now pleased to publish the results of the ballot.

93.9 % of the valid votes were positive.

This means the class had more than the 2/3 majority and is able to change the class rule.

So from now on rule D.4.3. (e) of the INTERNATIONAL TORNADO CLASS RULES will be as the following:

Construction D.4.3 (e):

Aluminium longitudinal or transverse bulkheads are permitted at any point within the main and rear beams.

The ITA committee will now move forward and work with ISAF to get the rule book changed.

If you have any questions about this rule change please email secretary@www.tornado-class.org
