A sunny and warm day for the first races of the 2015 ISAF Tornado World Championships and Global Mixed Championships here at the Yacht Club of Carnac.
The first day is over after 2 nice races and a dinner held in the sailing club. The wind’s direction was stable for racing but had a lot of increases and decreases in the pressure which varied from 5 to 10 knots during the racing.

The first race was won by last years World champions Dany Paschalidis and Kostas Trigonis who were followed by Nikolaos Mavros and Alexandros Tagaropoulos in second and Roland with Nahid Gaebler in the third place. The second race was dominated by the Swiss mixed team of Jean Marc Cuanillon and Gudrun Kolb. Nikolaos and Alexandros were again in the second with Roland and Nahid in the third place.

The Classic Tornado
After 15 years we are more than happy to have classic Tornados sailing with the fleet. They are starting in the same start but doing one lap less than the new rig boats. So for them, the first place of the first race goes to Philippe and Pierrick Tollemer, the second to Zakarian Michel and Ialenti Jeremy and the third to Julien Laurent and Patrick Lambert. Zakarian Michel and Ialenti Jeremy won the second race leaving the Tollemer’s in second place while to Julien Laurent and Patrick Lambert remained again on third.
For today we have:
- 1st Zakarian Michel and Ialenti Jeremy
- 2nd Philippe and Pierrick Tollemer
- 3rd Julien Laurent and Patrick Lambert
2 more races are scheduled for tomorrow and the sailors are wishing for even more wind across the race course.
