Take part in the ISAF Multihull Evaluation Event

17th - 25th March 2012, Santander, Spain

Dear Sailing Friends,

We wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for 2012!

It’s time to plan the sailing at the ISAF Olympic Multihull Equipment Evaluation. We like to see you for some days in Santander/Spain in the time between 17th to 25th March 2012.

You should contact your national sailing federation and ask them if they can send you to the ISAF evaluation.

You can download the application forms at www.mixedsailing.org

The Evaluation are on the way to the ISAF World Cup in Palma de Mallorca where the races start some days later. Santander in Northern Spain is very easy to reach from most airports in Europe. Most easy is with the ultimate low cost airline Ryan Air www.ryanair.com via London or Palma. If you book early, you can fly in for 20-30€.

At the Evaluations you will see 2-4 Tornados. Some new F18s and F16s from Hobie, Nacra, AHPC, Cirrus, Petrucci and Phantom projects. Maybe also an AC winged 18-20 Footer. So it’s a real nice collection of boats you can test and decide what boat should be the Olympic Class from 2013 on.

You can some Tornado training and sparring with us on supplied boats. So you are welcome to sail and train with us. Also we do some races with new courses. This is the club who organize the ISAF Trials www.rcmsantander.com

Mixed Sailing on catamarans can be the Formula-1 of summer Olympics. Yes, it’s a new challenge. As Tornado Class we wanted an OPEN discipline without any restrictions. It was NOT our wish. It was a decision by ISAF Committee members. Luckily the Tornado fits straight into this discipline too, we have many mixed teams sailing all over the World and we always have done.

Your Federation voted for Mixed Multihull at ISAF Conference in St. Petersburg in May 2011. Now they should send a team to the Evaluations in Santander. So please ask your federation NOW to get the chance to start your Olympic Campaign in the right boat.

You find the Tornado Mixed Sailing Flyer (410KB) as a download with all core facts we offer to ISAF and IOC. We want see you in Santander!

The Area of Santander is one of the most beautiful areas of Spain with great beaches and nice mountains. One of the best sailing places in Europe with all wind and wave conditions for a real nice sailing. Come and enjoy one of the best sailing and boats testing ever in Europe!

Please give us short feedback, if you speak with your federation. We can help you with information about location, hotels, flights and visas to meet you the 17th to 25th March for some days in Santander.

Best regards,
Nahid+Roland Gaebler www.mixedsailing.org
