IOC Decision

It is with deep regret that we pass on the news from the IOC Executive Board meeting on the 13 August (Berlin) that the request from ISAF to keep the 11th medal for sailing, has been denied. It is now official that multihull and the Tornado class will not be represented in the 2012 Olympic Games. While we see this as a great shame for the sport of sailing and the multihull discipline, we wish the current classes selected all the best in Weymouth in 2012. I’m am sure our presence will be missed.

We would like to thank the multihull and general sailing community for their support in the last 23 months since the regretful ISAF decision to eliminate the multihull from the Olympic slate.

We take this opportunity to announce that we will be fighting hard to not only gain our rightful position in the 2016 Olympic Games as the most spectacular and media savvy class and represent a great sector of the sport. However, we will also support the campaign to see a woman’s multihull introduced into the 2016 Olympic Games.
